Little update,

I have not been writing any posts lately, recently started a new job, it is excting and challenging, between the marketing course, the bible studies, now work it has been a little hectic.

The marketing course will finish this week and it has been a great experience. I have met nice and great people, my greetings to Monique, who at the beginning was a bit relentless to start the course, but she has demonstrated interest and participation, Martha very creative and spontanoues, Vivian detail oriented and analitical, Lorena has never missed a class, well just one, Johana from Duffry always participating, and the couple Mailinn and Patrick, always paying attention. Hope we keep in touch and specially hoped that you learned something…this spotting is for you!!

spotting indian food

March 28, 2008 · No Comments

I love to go out and eat, we all like to socialize and just spend time with people we are fond of. Today I went with a dear friend of mine to Taj Mahal. I have been there a couple of times and I love it.  The service is wonderful, you really don’t have to wait long, I didn’t count the minutes but surely in less than 10 minutes we were served.

I had chicken madras, its pieces of chicken simmered in a thick sauce made of coconut milk and spices, this combination is hmmm, and the basmati rice and Indian bread… well great!!! The only less nice thing, was that my friend was not feeling very well, so we had to go. But back home I continued savoring the food we could not finish at the restaurant.

If you want to try something new, visit Taj Mahal. It is worth it!!

How to improve relationships?

March 18, 2008 · No Comments

Since this blog is about people too…I was browsing today through my dairy, and when I was in Italy I read this book on how to improve relationships and I wrote somethings. This was in 2002, back there use of blogs where unexisting I guess, so now Im able to share this with you. I know that for sure it will help you, after all, we deal with people everyday!

  • Show an sincere interest, believe people will know when it’s not real or sincere.
  • a smile has a powerful outcome (eventhough nobody is watching, like when you are talking on the phone)
  • remember peoples name, it’s a powerful magic, because it’s one owns property…I like when people call me by my name, specially because it’s a difficult one!
  • if you want to be interesting, you have to show that you are interesting
  • listen listen and listen, learn to listen instead of talking
  • the road to peoples heart is to talk about the things they like or are passionate about
  • make others feel important and special
  • admit your mistakes and faults, we are humans, meaning we are not perfect!!

Let us be better people!!

crazy for sushi

March 5, 2008 · 1 Comment

In my recent post, i wrote about cappuccino and my love for this hot drink. I have another love and this is a crazy and almost like an obsession, sushi. If you are just like me, the first time I had one, I have to say, it was that nice, but with the second, third and by the fifth time, I was hitched. And since that…well no comments. What is it about this elegant, and simple food that can become so addicted? It’s simple,  sushi is delicious! so tasteful, tantalizing and appetizing that our palates are forever altered. Here in Aruba, we can also enjoy good sushi. One of my favourite places is Sushi Ya, recently I went there to indulge, I had my all time favourites, Californa Roll, Ebitem, fried roll and the crispy eel, hmmm, i can still taste it. The cozy and friendly staff, and the combination of value/ price, completes the great time I had.Only left to say is, I just can’t wait to go again!Send me your comments on your favourite sushi place here in Aruba, you never know, maybe you could get a free sushi roll!!

studying marketing?

March 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

Recently I was aproached to start a introductory Marketing course. I am very happy and honored for this opportunity, because marketing is one of my favourite subjects. I was thinking why is it important the study of marketing. We are not aware but marketing plays an important role in our life, everyday, we are being bombarded with so much information, images, ads, etc.. Every day companies are trying to get our attention, trying to have us try their products and services.

Marketing is al about being remarkable, is all about telling a story that we are willing to hear and feel identified with.

Marketing is this and so much more. But marketing here in Aruba? How is that? Except from the few big marketing companies, and the few big clients that can afford them, most of our companies do not practice effective and good marketing. With good marketing I mean, do companies, know me, do they know what I like to do, where do I like to go, what are my hobbies.

Oh no, here in Aruba, we have a long way to go. But there is hope.

So I feel excited to give this Marketing course starting next monday March 3, at Instituto EPA (Ensenansa pa Adulto). Together with this course we will also learn more of how to be an entrepreneur and starting your business.

For more information just send your comments or call 564 5340.

A good cup of cappuccino?

February 13, 2008 · 1 Comment

I am a passionate lover of everything related to Italy, a friend told me recently: ” You must have an italian gene”. This love grew stronger when a few years ago, I had the opportunity to live and work in Italy for almost three years. It was one of the best periods of my life!

Now back to Aruba, I am telling you all this so you can understand this post. One of my daily routines was drinking a good cup of cappuccino. So you can imagine that I still do love a good cup of cappuccino, but the problem is that the best cappuccino’s are there…in Italy! Now when I want to have a fairly cup of cappuccino here in Aruba, I really get so dissapointed. Until now one of the best places is still The Coffee House, the wide variety of coffees is amazing, and the cozy place is just wonderful, still so difficult to find a seat.

Then I liked the cappuccino of Peanuts, but my friend Lizah, who used to work there, used to prepare a good one, but now that she does not work there anymore… I will have to keep looking. So I am on a mission of finding out where here on the island I can find a good cappuccino. If anyone of you know of a place please let me know, I will try it out and let you know or maybe better I will go with you!!!So leave your comments and I will let you know where I found the best cappuccino in Aruba.

Grazie mille!
